There are many things to think about while you are making a choice to CHANGE YOUR LIFE in order to become an Au Pair.
Dear future Au Pair, have you thought about the questions below?
* Where to go?
* Which family to choose?
* How to even know what to expect?
* What to ask the family at the interview?
* How to find friends after you move?
* How to deal with kids when they are cranky?
* How to deal with the developing periods are “your kids” in?
* Which surprises to expect (BTW there are MANY of them!!)?

But first, let me give you the basic steps of becoming an Au Pair:
- There are many webpages where you can create a profile as an applicant for an Au Pair. The host families can find you there and you can make a connection. If a profile is made well you will get offers soon.
- Next is an interview. You should know what do you want, what are you willing to do and what should pay be like. Here I advise you to take time, to talk about everything so there is no confusion once you get there. In my case, I was shocked once I got there because I had no idea what to ask and what can happen. (There is an extended list of questions in the book).
- I strongly advise you to get to know child development at least briefly so you will know what to expect and how to behave. It is a lot easier once you know how children are in general so you do not stress for no reason. (again there is a description of what to expect at different ages in the book)
- You also might want to start to learn the language of a potential host family, it is going to be easier to connect with the kids. If they do not speak English it can be a struggle for the first months so it is good to be prepared. 🙂
